Here are a few common idioms which
students can include in their writing.

Put your heart into something:
When you put your heart into something you make a lot of effort to do something.
Put one's
foot down:
To put
your foot down - To
act firmly / to tell someone strongly that they must do something or that they
must stop doing something:
someone's lips are sealed:
When you
promise to keep something a secret you say my lips are sealed. It's
something you say to let someone know that you will not tell anyone else what
they have just told you.
You've
probably heard make up used as a noun for cosmetics, but did you know
that it's also used as a phrasal verb?
Make up -
(noun) a cosmetic worn on the face to change
your appearance.
Make up - (phrasal verb) to forgive /
apologise with someone and to be friends again after a fight or argument.
Snail’s pace
Moving very
slowly.
To have a frog in one’s throat
To have a
temporary hoarseness caused by phlegm in the back of the throat.
Curiosity killed the cat
A
warning against being too curious in case one is harmed.
Fit like a glove
Something
that fits perfectly.
